Teeny Telephone

I'm using a Mac right now and can't figure out how to make this rotate, but I wore my telephone necklace today. I thought it was appropriate since this is pretty much what I do all day long. Make lots of phone call and look at lots of Excel. It's kind of adorable though, huh? I got it from Urban Outfitters. I love their jewelry.
Also, check out that clear picture! I got a new phone!!! I now have a Samsung Galaxy S. It is pretty sweet!! Faster than my other phone which is good because I was about to take a sledge hammer to that thing...

Can I just tell you something frustrating me right now? This cup.

 It is empty. Again.

I'm a bit of a fish, in that I drink approximately a tower full of water a day. (Do fish drink water...?) Usually at work we have water bottles which I proceed to fill up throughout the day at our water jug dispenser. The water bottles hold a lot more water than this teeny cup. Today and yesterday we have been out of bottles, however, and so it's to the cups. I pretty much have to fill this little baby up about every 20 minutes, or just go thirsty for a while. I hate being thirsty and I hate forgetting to bring a back up water bottle. Thankfully, the water man is due to come today and resupply us on all things water. I love him.
(I actually have no idea who this man is... he's from google images.)

I found this picture that made me laugh of Taylor from 2007. He was very thirsty too. We had gone to the midnight showing of Oceans 12 or something and were being quite silly. He didnt have room for his cup up top and didnt want to hold it in is hand, so look at his lovely creation. Straws connected and leading to the cup sitting on the floor. What an inventive brother I have! haha
I'm pretty sure there were some fabulous spit balls involved with that night...

Fire and Ice

I am at work right now, just finished eating my lunch, and I am FREEZING! Outside things are melting with the California sun (that has finally decided to show it's face) and I am inside, wishing I had brought a sweater. The only place this happens at this time of year. Those pictures are what I look like when I intently stare at a computer screen then back down to a piece of paper... All. Day. Long.

Also, last night my mom, dad, little brother, and I watched a late night showing of THE VILLAGE. (The caps are supposed to make it look more scary...)
Not the best bedtime story (I had to watch some Jane Austen afterwards to balance it out), but I had forgotten how much I enjoy that movie! Best/scariest part...

Actually there are two scariest parts... but I can't find a good video of the second one. I jump. Every time. Or just close my eyes.

Fifth Semester at BYU-I!! Phew! I'm surviving... barely! :) This semster I have a new job, the most credits I've taken at one time! Its a mental work out, but it's great! I'm learning so much!! And this semester is showing me that I am for sure that I am in the right major (English)! I LOVE it!!!! My grammar class is favorite!! Diagramming sentences is more fun than I ever would have realized!! (It's okay to call me a nerd... haha) And I have a new computer!!! Yay! My last one broke! Like the hinges snapped and it was just old and dying. My new one is Beautiful!!! I am in love! :) It's an HP Pavilion dm4 or something. It has 500gb Hard Drive, 4gb Memory, a Core i5 processor, and A FINGERPRINT SCANNER!! It is soo cool!!!

So, the real reason I decided to write was because of two things that happened on Friday. First, I had a cool experience with my awesome friend Mike. I was in my education class in a conversation with my other friend about homeschool. I am planning on homeschooling my children someday and am really excited about it! However, he had the opposite opinion about it. Which is totally okay! I mean, I am going to teach in the public education system someday, I totally understand. It was just that I left that conversation and that class feeling ill at ease about my plans for the future, about something that has been really important to me for a while. "you going to make your kids weird!" kept passing through my head. To make things worse, my phone was dead so I couldn't even call my Mom to make me feel better! So I just kept walking when I randomly ran into my good friend, Mike. He walked with me the rest of the way home and talked with me for a while at my apartment. We somehow got on the topic of homeschool and told him about my very recent experience and found out that he had been homeschooled from 1st grade through 8th grade! And he is so not weird and is actually really really awesome, a hard worker, the most thoughtful guy, etc.! Someone I respect a lot! He told me all about how great it was for him and we talked about the challenges on both sides, and he told me that he thought it was really cool that I wanted to do this. Wow, it was just EXACTLY the thing I needed to hear from the person I would never have thought, myself, to ask, but was exactly the right person! When he left, I was even more excited about my plans and about my major and about life!!! Then I charged my phone and called my Mom :) I love BYU-Idaho and my amazing friends!

The second thing that happened was the next night on Saturday... this one was an adrenaline filled, frightening experience that involved gasping, screaming, caves, mud, my little red station wagon, and a rescue from about 6 guys!
So, we decided to go and check out the "Cave Jam" at the civil defense caves. We didnt stay very long. It was... interesting. haha. but anyways, the road there is like in the middle of a never ending field and is extremely bumpy and dippy and it had rained that day and the day before so was muddy! On the way back, I we came to a puddle of mud in the middle of the road. I tightened my grip on the steering wheel, held my breath, and tried to follow the guidance of my experienced Idaho Driver roommate. I was deathly afraid of getting stuck in the mud! In the middle of the side of the mud we hit a rock that wedged itself under the tire and did just what i was hoping it wouldn't; it trapped us!! To make a long story short, a car of guys, going to the dance, found us stranded and stopped to ask us what the problem was. They came over to check out the issue, when a car or two more of guys stopped and jumped out and talked to us and looked at the car and began problem solving. Before we knew it, my car was up on a jack, flashlights were out, a strange guy was in the drivers seat of my car, guys were pushing and pulling, and we were standing in a field helplessly, being sprayed with mud by the tires spinning stuck in the puddle (and by some rude guys in big trucks who thought it would be cool to speed in between us through the mud puddle). Within like ten minutes they had it out! We thanked them emphatically and were on our way in the Mud-red Stationwagon that was never meant for this kind of excitement! Thank heavens for helpful men!! That was not the only scary mud puddle, but luckily we were able to avoid the other scary rocks!
This is our did-we-really-just-waste-our-time-at-that-dance face
(Before the rock and the guys)

Smile!

So, besides the fact that some of my homework is still calling my name... this was a very successful weekend! :)
